june favourites♡

I think the last time I did a favourites post was in January sometime which is
quite a while back so I thought for this weekends post I would dwell on the
favourites of this month. I think everyone says  this but where has the time gone?
It's now 6 months til Christmas? Summer is right around the corner? Crazy stuff.

Beauty Favourites

My first favourite of this month has been my beloved Naked 3 pallet. I got this
for my birthday and I am so obsessed. The colours are absolutely stunning. A beautiful
mix of pinks, bronzes and golds. I have been using it daily and I couldn't rave about it
enough. It's ideal for this season!

I have had a few brush favourites this past month. One of them is the good 'ol 'Buffing
Brush' by Real Techniques. I've had this brush for a long time now and after I got a few
other brushes this was pushed to the back, but recently I have loved using this for
powder and BB creams (as you can see it's a little dirty!) I have also been using the
'Deluxe Crease Brush' by Real Techniques which I got for my birthday.
I have been loving to use this to apply concealer on any pesky spots and it's
the perfect size for under-eye concealer too!

Last month I gave in and decided to buy Benefits 'Rollerlash'. My question now
is WHY did I have any doubts about this? It's my first Benefit product and it's
made a very good impression. It has a perfect curved wand which is not too big
and it feels like it's nourishing every eyelash and it makes my eyelashes look incredible.
One thing I struggle with is making my eyes look open and bigger and this has been
a miracle product for that.

Next up is my beloved Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. Really this should be in
EVERY monthly favourites because it's an essential and I don't own any other
powder which is saying how amazing this is! The reason why it's crept in to
my favourites this month is that I have been more oily around my T-Zone area and
chin this past month so I have been taking it around with me to school instead of just
applying it in the morning!

Non-Beauty Favourites

Because of the dreaded exams and mocks it hasn't been particularly easy to
read as much as I would like too. This month I managed to get through All I Know
Now by Carrie Hope Fletcher. I absolutely loved it. I think Carrie is such a
big sister figure and you can tell she put everything into it and it was actually
written by her! In times of need I will definitely refer back to this book. Carrie
has a lovely charm when writing and I felt like she was directly speaking through
the pages!

I am so late to the band wagon with this but at the end of May the family bought
Netflix. Very embarrassingly, in the space of the past month I have managed to
get up to Season 4 of Pretty Little Liars. I've been watching it in the bath,
on the go, getting ready in the morning and any spare moment I have I will
watch part of it! No idea how I managed to get through that much in such a
short space of time. I promise you I did focus my attention on my exams
and put all my effort into them but at the end of a busy day watching
a few episodes never hurt anyone!

Let me know your favourites in the comments!

summer edit: bases♡

In the Summer most of us like to switch up our makeup bag and change it to some Summer appropriate products. Bases are a hard thing to get right in the Summer. Some will just slide off your face as soon as you are exposed to the heat! Step 1 for me would be to find myself a good 'ol primer which you can find here. For a while I have been testing out some new bases and foundations that are
not only affordable but are also easy to wear in the Summer, stay put and
are lightweight.

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hr Nude Foundation♡ £7.99

Not everyone likes to wear a liquid foundation in the Summer. On a regular basis such as lazy days at home or beach days, I most certainly won't bother with a liquid foundation, however, for those of us who like to wear a bit of foundation (there's nothing wrong with that!) then this will be ideal. This foundation is so wonderful. Rimmel now do two versions of this, I picked up the one that has a medium coverage as a-posed to the full coverage. The reason I love this foundation is because of it's long lasting qualities which makes it very easy to favour it in the heat of the Summer. It also has
a built in SPF which is a huge thumbs up from the paler folk. The formula and consistency is very similar to the Rimmel Match Perfection and the finish is quite similar. I find this isn't as radiant as the Rimmel Match Perfection so it doesn't make my skin look any oiler than it is, which ticks all the boxes for me! The coverageis probably the heaviest coverage foundation I own as I tend to stick with
lighter bases but it is a comfortable wear on your skin for the whole day!

Superdrug 5-in-1 Skin Perfecting Day Cream (BB Cream)♡£6.99

I picked this up on a bit of a whim, not really knowing much about this product and was sucked in with the half price deal but I have been pleasantly surprised! I was a bit worried about buying this as you can't test the colour but luckily this isn't too dark for me and doesn't have a peachy
tint like some tinted moisturisers. The coverage is very light and I put this on with my moisturiser as
it is just like a cover up cream. The website sells it as a moisturiser, foundation, primer and concealer all in one. I still find myself having to use a concealer and primer but I do feel like if you have normal skin with no blemishes this could be an ideal all-in-one jobby for you! I also love this as it has an SPF which again is a massive tick in the Summer. I haven't yet tried it in a pool to test it's
waterproof qualities but I will let you know when I do!

Body Shop All-In-One BB Cream♡£12

This is a slightly different BB Cream as it's a colour adapting cream. This is perfect if you tan as it's a white cream which colour adapts to yourskin tone at the time. I don't really properly tan but sometimes I may bronze a bit so this means I don't have to go out and buy a foundation darker. The only bummer about this is it doesn't have an SPF and it can turn your face a tad orange if you use brushes that have previously been used for other foundations which is a pain! It does create a really lovely lightweight finish and it doesn't really feel heavy or like you have a thick base on. It's also quite hydrating and moisturising. I can imagine this will be ideal for holidaying!

Let me know your bases for the Summer months!

AA skincare: seaweed and aloe eye gel review♡

When I think of eye care I think of glasses, contact lenses and the like. I have
never tried any skin care products specifically designed for the skin around your
eyes, so I was very excited when Amphora Aromatics kindly sent this to me!
I know that the skin around your eyes is a delicate and sensitive area so
it deserves some looking after right?

The gel has a green tint to it and is a light gel consistency. I put this
on in circular motions under my eyes and has a really lovely cool and
soothing effect. It really wakes you up and refreshes your eyes. For a hay fever sufferer
like me, at the end of the day, my eyes can feel irritated and sore and putting this on
my eyes is like a miracle! In the morning, it almost 'zaps' your eyes open and
instantly wakes them up. Perfect for those late nights "revising" or watching
too much Netflix!

This is also a makeup remover so it works as a 2 in 1 which I think
is fab for travelling. I also love the natural mint green colour of the packaging
and how it comes with a useful pump that doesn't pump out too much at once.
As it has cooling qualities on the skin, it's perfect for things like sunburn and
sore skin. It's made of pure essential oils and herbal extracts so all natural
ingredients are in their products. No harsh chemicals is a big box to tick when
dealing with sensitive areas on your skin. Overall, I am so impressed with this!
It's become a staple in my routine and I highly rate it!

DofE weekend♡

I thought I owe you a blogpost and this is hot of the press as I have just got home and
had a thorough wash after my Dofe weekend! I just thought I would show a s
election of photographs from the weekend. My whole body is aching and despite
the hard work, it has been a worthwhile experience. Plenty of laughs along the
way and some great tunes ;)

I will try and get back to blogging as soon as my exams are over!

a hint of green?!♡

WOW! Me branching out of my comfort zone in the eyeshadow field is a
rare sight to see! But as Summer is right around the corner why should my
eyeshadows remain the traditional neutrals on a daily basis? My sister very kindly
bought this eyeshadow pencil from Collection for me for my birthday.  I believe it's
from a limited edition collection for 'Field Day' -  whatever that is! The pencil
is in the shade 'Summer Meadow.'

I'm not sure if this shade is complimentary to my blue eyes but I thought
it looked pretty as a different wash of colour over the eyelids. Collection Work
the colour eyeshadow pencils are a firm favourite in my ever-growing makeup
stash and this eyeshadow pencil is exactly the same concept and packaging style. I
did find that this eyeshadow had a slightly harder formula and when applying it on
to my eyelid it wasn't as pigmented (which isn't a bad thing!). Although, you really had
to push the pencil firmly on the eyelid to even get a slight bit of colour, which wasn't great.
When I resulted in putting it on my finger and then applying, it worked better.
Like all Collection pencils, they are very long-lasting and usually even when
using my trusty Garnier Miceallear Water to remove it,
it leaves behind a trail of glitter specks.

The shade is a mossy light green and when applied on to the lid,
it has silver specks in it which aren't always visible when it's in pencil form.
The colour itself is quite subtle as it's not too pigmented and isn't an
overpowering green. Unfortunately, like all Collection pencils, if you apply
a lot to emphasise the colour, you get an overwhelming amount of glitter
that follows and can build up in chunks on the eye lids!

I do like sticking to neutral shades but I didn't feel like this was too
over the top! As it's not such a strong shade of green it's a more subtle
way to add a pop of colour! Even though I haven't yet been brave enough
to wear it out in public!

Do you wear coloured eyeshadows?
Would you wear this out in public?
Let me know!
